A backpack as gift: Each participant got a backpack.
Particularities: 1) The participants were accomodated in 3 hotels, Grand Hotel Bernardin (5*), Hotel Histrion (4*) and Hotel Vile Park (3*).
2) During the entire week it was dry weather during the day with 30 degrees Celcius (86F). Remarkable because the area suffered from flooding last month.
3) All the games of the NCC 2023 were played with 58 DGT electronic boards, connected with 2 PCs. A record compared with last year, although it must be said that the connection of the last 3 DGT boards could not be established.
4) Just like last year, Medals "Year of the Woman in Chess" were presented to the 2 female participants who had not participated in the NCC 2022 edition. FIDE Women's Commission was informed about the fact.
5) The Germany Chess team was sponsored by Chessbase. All their opponents got a product from that company. Thank you, Chessbase!
6) Two months before the start of the tournament, the 14th International Chess Tournament Portorož Open 2023 was played in the same location.
7) At Friday, The Slovenian online Chessgamesshop (you can also find them on ebay) had a stand before the tournament hall, where participants could buy the famous Dubrovnik and Zagreb 1959 chess pieces.
